Doug has the fattest passport of anyone we know. If you count countries that no longer exist, I think he might have actually visited more countries than there presently are. He has paddled and pedaled most of them.

Doug also shares with Joolee the experience of teaching in the schools in Alaska’s villages, and he has counted places like Tuluksak and Barrow as home. Lately he teaches high school science in Nikiski, Alaska, where he lives with his wife Rose and her daughter Mariah in their house on the shore of a ridiculously picturesque and spruce-lined lake in Alaska’s Kenai Penninsula.
